I ♥ Faces - Week 28

This week the theme at I ♥ Faces was... wait for it... FEET! Since the "usual" entries mostly rely on the subject's eyes and expression for mood, it was really fun to try and create drama in an interesting and different way.

I ♥ Faces - Week 27

This week at I ♥ Faces there were two fun categories to enter:

Let me set the stage... It's late in the 4th quarter and we are down. Play-offs are on the line. He runs over during a time out and grabs a drink. You can see the concentration in his furrowed brow. He is sweating and out of breath. Yet, he somehow manages to get out the words... "Mom, what's for snack?"

This is not necessarily what I would want for a pet but we did find it on our deck so that kind of makes her part of the family. Though I took many pictures of our friend prior to her demise, all the credit goes to my husband for this one. I know it was he who took this photo because I can see his reflection (and my mom's blue shirt behind him) on the back of the black widow.

I ♥ Faces - Week 23

I was very excited about this week's theme at I ♥ Faces... Sepia Toned. I love sepia toned pictures and I especially like to use dramatic sepia on the pictures of the kids... as if the kids needed more drama :)

I ♥ Faces - Week 21

There are 2 themes this week at I ♥ Faces... birthdays and pets. The two pictures that I picked out are not fantastic studio portraits but rather shots that are significant to me and that make me smile when I look at them.

Birthday Entry:

I love this picture (taken with a regular old point and shoot) because it captures the absolute joy on my son's face as he paraded around the room with his very own birthday whistle. He was the king of the castle that day... all the noise he wanted to make and no one said a word :)

Pets Entry:

This little guy is not really a pet. Rather, he and I became close, personal friends (if you know what I mean!) the other day when I was weeding my flower bed. The kids wanted to keep him but I could not handle any more of his "friendliness"!

Welcome to the 21st Century

I finally got it... my first DSLR! I bought my new (well, new to me) Nikon D40 on Ebay and I am thrilled. I just have the kit lens for now... baby steps. Now I just have to learn how to use it :)

Jack was less than thrilled with the news that he needed to be my model as I fiddled with my new toy!

I ♥ Faces - Week 19

This week at I ♥ Faces we were challenged to submit our best photo to have it be added to the brand-new I ♥ Faces Blurb photo book! When I read about the contest this week, I knew exactly the photo that I would be entering. Except, it is not my photo... it is my husband's! So, let me be clear, this entry belongs to my husband, not to me, and he has agreed to enter it.

Jay took this photo on the day we received our new son in China in 2007. He is strictly a beginner and, in fact, we bought this camera just the week before we travelled. The crop is SOOC! We just love this picture and we feel like it captures the moment for our baby so purely and honestly.

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I ♥ Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I ♥ Faces web sites.

I ♥ Faces - Week 18

The theme this week at I ♥ Faces is laughter. Except for when they are being tickled, the hardest my kids ever laugh is when they walk the line between fun and naughty... piling up on the slide was PERFECT for them!
